Omega European Masters 2026: how the field settled

The 2026 Omega European Masters ended with Thriston Lawrence beating Paul Casey in a four-hole play-off at Crans-sur-Sierre, both men finishing on 18 under. It was Lawrence's third Swiss Alps title, a record he now shares with Seve Ballesteros. Here is how the leaderboard settled and what our pre-tournament course-fit read looked like afterwards.

What happened at Crans

Crans-sur-Sierre delivered the finish its altitude and short par fours usually promise: a scoring week that stayed tight to the top. Thriston Lawrence and Paul Casey matched each other at 18 under through regulation and went to a play-off, where three holes were halved before Lawrence rolled in a birdie of roughly 23 feet to win. The victory made Lawrence the first player since Seve Ballesteros to win this event three times, having also taken the title in 2022 and 2025. Harry Hall finished alone in third at 17 under, a stroke outside the play-off.

What the course-fit read got right, and what it did not

Our pre-tournament preview and Crans-sur-Sierre course notes leaned on the same signals Crans has rewarded for years: iron precision, a settled short game and previous comfort at altitude, rather than raw driving distance. Chacarra's share of fourth fits that read cleanly. Wallace's top-ten week is a reasonable outcome for a player whose ball-striking travels. Reed landing just outside the places is the honest other side of a model that plays the whole field rather than a shortlist of names: some weeks the edge is real and shows up on the card, some weeks it does not.
